We love working on social media strategies with our wedding public relations clients. But, if your social media presence doesn’t reflect that same level of creativity and professionalism, wedding PR activities won’t produce direct sales! Social media is the best way to promote that earned feature. If you’re wondering how to ensure you’re promoting your features properly, read our tips below. Then, download this checklist. It will help you make the most of your wedding media features!
Some public relations experts believe that for every hour invested in content creation, an hour should also be invested in content promotion. We likely can’t invest an equal amount of hours. So, invest an equal amount of thought and attention to detail in the promotion of your earned wedding media features.

Wedding PR: how to make the most of your wedding media features
- Send a quick thanks to the writer/editor: A simple sign of appreciation can go a long way. And a thank you can increase your changes of future PR opportunities. Show your excitement when you earn a wedding media feature! After all, the placement will help draw attention and awareness to your brand. So, be grateful.
- If the wedding media feature is online, comment as a thank you: Posts that have comments have drastically higher click-through rates. Commenting acts as a “thank you” to the writer/editor. And also helps draw more attention to the article itself.
- Send the placement to the other vendors involved, asking them to share: When a writer or editor informs me that one of our clients has been featured on their wedding blog, they always ask to help promote the piece. In doing so, you’re also cross-promoting your businesses with the other vendors you collaborated with on the shoot or wedding. This helps to gain more social media followers.
- Send the article to your brides + potential clients: Sharing your earned wedding media feature with your brides demonstrates your credibility and expertise. Sharing a Brides Magazine article you were mentioned in might be what seals the deal for potential clients. But do so in a non-boastful way!
- Share on your social media channels: Don’t forget to tag the outlet (and even the writer/editor) to show your appreciation. And also that you’re helping spread the news. If you can’t directly link to the article (like on Instagram), consider putting a temporary link in your profile to let followers know where they can find it. Or, include the exact title of the article for them to easily search for it later. If the outlet uses a hashtag for features, use it!
- Update your website’s press page: Press pages are all about credibility and professionalism. A potential client might not click on all of your press features. Clients will love seeing a list of articles on a press page. If you just rely on social media, eventually that exciting news will become buried in your newsfeed. It can live on forever on your press page!
All of this further grows your client base and raises awareness of your brand. Click here for more information on our wedding PR and marketing services!
